The Votes Are In!! Or Should I Say...The first contest is ..11/3/10

over and we have three Winners!!

This was so much fun!  Can't wait until next year!  We are going to get even more involved with finding fun surprise goodies to go in the baskets and we will start earlier too!  T.J. was even thinking of a costume contest, or even a theme contest for the pumpkins!  Fun! Fun! Fun!

So we were in the carving mood and put ourselves to the test with seven little pumpkins!

As you can see we gave ourselves a
makeover!

Without further  anticipation building up, Here are the winners!

We didn't give them a first second or third.  We gave them each "Job Well Done...We Think They Each Should Be #1"

"Mickey" by Raquel

"Gino did this Completely by himself!"

‎"Jack" by Loretta

Congratulations my friends!  Thank you to all who participated.  You all did a fantastic job!  There were some lovely pumpkins!

Things I love about this season....  It kicks off the season of being nice.  Everyone, no matter their station during the Holidays is a bit nicer and happier.  They are hopeful and full of good cheer.  I like to think that it gets spread around and we rub off on each other.

Fall & Harvest makes me thankful for all the time spent in my garden growing up with my family!  It is a tradition I gladly pass on to my two kids and part of why we celebrate the way we do!  Thank you for joining us!

I try and take my kids each year to a local farm because we are not fortunate to live on one at this time.  Those visits remind me of all the time I spent in my big garden growing up.  I miss my garden.  I used to sit out in a field and pull the weeds that would seem to spring up everywhere. I would sit there and quiet my mind.   My dad would come out daily and ask, "How does your garden grow?"  I would answer not so much in the rhyme, but exclaim,  "With weeds you know? It grows with lots of weeds!" Sometimes we would sit on the back deck and eat snap peas off the vine and talk.  Other times we would just sit and eat them quietly.  It was the best.  Mom would join us and we would light the barbecue for grilling and then for just sitting around it after dinner.  It was like camping at home.   Hanging out in the garden with my parents was fun.  We put in a lot of hard work and then enjoyed the fruits of our labors.     I was so proud of the onions and tomatoes I grew there.too.  Mom and I put them up for soups, sauces and stews.  I loved that because winter was a great time for them.  It still is one of my favorite things to come home on cold days to stew cooking.  Even to this day there is nothing like my Mom's Stew!

Thanks Loretta for sending me this pic!

These two pumpkins had a very lovely glow!!

Your baskets will be ready soon!  Hope you all had a safe and
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
